her real name isn’t stagerlee. she took that up when she was nine, the name taken from a song written and sung by her grandparents. for her the name is “about someone struggling to break out of all of the gates life had built up around them.”

until staggerlee’s cousin trout comes to visit one summer, she doesn’t have any friends and finds herself at odds with her siblings. her summer with trout changes the course of who they will both become.
